Wednesday Wonderings.

Am I the only one who thought that the umbilical cord connected the baby's belly button to the mother's belly button? Apparently, it does not.

Why do veterinarians put the pet's name in quotes? Like "Mavis". As though Mavis wasn't really her name and we all just agreed to call her that as some inside joke?

Has any conversation, in the history of humankind, improved when someone says "Wow, you really have PMS!"

Does anyone know anyone named Dolores? Because I suspect that the name is extinct.

Let me know if there is anything that you've been wondering. Or if you have answers to my questions.

It connects the baby to the placenta.

Ii wonder, why when people call and they ask if it is a bad time and you say yes... blah blah blah, they keep a 20 minute conversation with you.

I would like to know why, when you ask a direct answer to people, do they side step the issue or make exucse after excuse - rather than just fix the problem or address the problem.

I would like to know why people just can't say no - rather say they will get back to you and never do.

How's that for wonderment?

I do know a Delores and I do not know about the PMS, I suppose that is the same as someone saying your dog is overweight or when they come up to you say Are YOU losing weight. I dodn't know about the "Mavis" thing, sorry.

Delores O'Riordan and Delores Claiborne.

One is a singer and one is a fictional character played by Kathy Bates.

But I don't know them personally or nuffink.

Question: if a company wants to keep you for a customer (Cox communications, I'm looking at you) why do they force me to the edge of suicide (thus losing me as a paying customer) [as opposed to a non paying customer] by keeping me on hold for ages and playing the same ads on a loop. AAAAAAARGH!

No Delores, but my mom's name is Priscilla, which I think might be extinct when she leaves us. What about Gertrude? Ethel? And let's hope Dick is expiring as a nickname as well. If that's what you're calling your two year old son today, you are either living under a rock or you are just not a very nice parent.

Yes I thought that for a while about the umbilical cord...

Why do people ask how you are if they don't really want to know the answer or don't have time to listen?

Is it just me that feels like we have to be Library Quiet in Barnes & Noble?

Wouldn't it be great if there was a drive thru just for buying milk, bread and eggs?

I completely agree with the pet names! I'm not sure why they do it, maybe because people often change the name of their pet? That couldn't be.

Really gross, maybe stepping over the line, but I always thought growing up that boys "balls" separated when they hit puberty. You know, like how everyone draws the picture of them in the girls bathroom. Imagine my amazement the first time ....

It's a fairly common Mexican name, so I see it, I don't want to say frequently, but it does come up. And I always found it odd, because the root of the name "dolor" means "pain" or "sorrow" in Spanish.

OMG I love the umbilical cord mystery! It wasn't until I was teaching the human body as a fifth grade teacher that they light bulb went off. Better late than never, I always say. :-)

(lovely writing, btw)

My SIL was named Delores at birth and had it legally changed to Dee when she was old enough.

We have drive-thru dairies in CA. They not only sell bread, eggs and milk, but ice cream, chips and condoms too!

No way on the drive thru's.

I've been giving the dog name some thought.

If your name was Mavis Murphy, it might be hard to decide without looking down there, what' the dogs name is - so maybe they have it in Quotes for people with names like Murray, Murphy, Red, Peter, ... you get the idea. The name in quotes is the dog name "without having to think".

My mother-in-law's name is Dolores. And she's pretty much extinct.
Hopefully, that answers your question.

Why do you have to have your rain coat dry cleaned?

Why do they make beef, fish and chicken cat food and not mouse, bird, lizard flavors?
